Sustainable Packaging for our Sustainable Products

By Posted in - News on May 10th, 2018 0 Comments Here at Source we are always looking at ways to reduce our impact on the planet. Our latest innovation is to use sustainable packaging with the world’s first zero-emission flexible packaging. The manufacturer’s supply base is powered entirely by hydroelectric energy and this, combined with a water based ink system means that the packaging requires zero solvents and generates no emissions.   Source coffee is sustainably-sourced from small-holder farmers working on reforestation and conservation projects. With such high standards from our growers, we want to carry that through to our finished product, so our new sustainable packaging will make us zero-carbon from the outside-in.   The self-sustaining energy source at the print site saves on average 880,000 Kgs of CO2 emissions in a year. To put that into perspective this is the equivalent of 233 journeys around the circumference of the earth. The water-based inks used on the packaging create a 47% saving on ink when compared with gravure printing.   We are delighted to have discovered this new packaging solution and we hope our customers will be delighted too. The packs will look smaller and feel lighter but still keep your coffee super fresh and contain the same quantity of your favourite coffee. We will start sending out the new packs from the end of May so let us know what you think.
